Dome Aesthetics Continued: Another Underrated Architectural Gem in Palma Still buzzing from the (shock) of Palma Cathedral’s “Assumption of Mary” dome, I headed straight west early the next morning—all to check off another dome masterpiece said to “reference” that classic artwork (details are in Figure 4!). This dome may lack some of the finer intricacies (the lights weren’t on when I visited, so I couldn’t savor every brushstroke), but as a creation “standing on the shoulders of giants,” it carries an even more powerful visual impact 🌪️. Craning my neck with binoculars—my neck was nearly “done for” again—I couldn’t help wondering: What kind of ingenuity arranges such (complex) details into such harmony? What’s more intriguing is its “dual identity”: It now serves as a chapel for the Romanian Orthodox Church, with interiors exuding that solemn, profound Orthodox atmosphere. Don’t be fooled by the exterior—you won’t spot the dome from outside, but step inside, and the surprise is right above you ⛪️. 📍 Practical Guide Location: Search “Santa Maria del quartiere” to find it. It’s walkable from the city center; if driving, parking around is plentiful—only €0.60 for half an hour, unbeatable value 🚗. Hours: Google Maps’ opening times are wrong! It’s actually open from 9 AM to 7 PM. Don’t make a wasted trip ⏰. #PalmaArchitecture #DomeArt #LesserKnownChurches #SpanishHumanities #AestheticsInTravel #OrthodoxArchitecture #PalmaHiddenGems
