Recommend to my Indian homie
🎋Guys!!! We had the most delicious meal in nearly four months (sorry Michelin pho restaurants, this one is even better) – an incredibly fancy Indian meal! 🍞We both love Indian food (as someone from Inner Mongolia who loves lamb) + this French guy is a big fan of spicy food. 🍚🍚 We’ve probably eaten Indian food together about 6 times before, and most of them were around 7/10. 🌻 🙊But the Indian meal we had on Bond Street yesterday when it was raining was amazing – easily 9.2/10 or higher. First, let’s talk about the decor. Does anyone get it? How could it be bad when it’s near a bunch of luxury stores! 🕊️ 🌹The sense of luxury hits you as soon as you walk in! It smells great, and the tableware is super high-end. Even though we’ve had our fair share of nice, expensive meals, we were still shocked by the decor when we found out the price per person is around £20-30 💐 🌷Now, the food! We tried their Express Lunch Thali (Indian set meal), with three options: vegetarian / non-vegetarian / seafood.🦐 We ordered one with 🐏 lamb and one with 🐟 fish to share. Drinks were: Lychee & Rose Lassi + Sindhu special (each £7).🌵 The Thali sets come in copper plates, which is so full of ceremony! Each set has a main dish🍣🍣, rice, two side dishes, tawa flatbread, yogurt sauce, and dessert – it looks super satisfying at first glance! 【🐏 Lamb Set】 🍛 Every dish was a pleasant surprise: Main: Southern Lamb Curry The spice layers are rich, the lamb is stewed until tender and flavorful. It has a South Indian vibe with a hint of coconut, perfect with rice! 🍙 🍎Spicy food lovers should definitely order this – I can handle spice pretty well, but this was so spicy yet I couldn’t stop eating!🍒🍒 Side dish 1: Tadka Dal (stewed lentils) A bit like Middle Eastern yellow lentil soup, but with the aroma of mustard seeds and a kick of chili, it’s warm and refreshing.🍺 Dessert: Coconut Payasam Coconut milk rice pudding, sprinkled with rose and pistachios. The sweetness is just right, fragrant and not greasy!🍒 Does anyone get it? All this for a set that’s only £24 total – such a great deal.🍋 【Seafood Set】 Main: Fish Curry (Stone Bass)🍱 Big chunks of stone bass in a South Indian-style curry with a tangy-spicy flavor (probably using tamarind), rich and delicious! 🍟🍟 🌳Oh my god!! This was the absolute standout – we practically licked the plate clean ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Starter: Ghati Masala Prawn Equally amazing, the sauce is a mix of peanut + coconut with a slight spice. The prawns are firm and bouncy – we wanted another plate so bad! Restaurant name: Manthan🍀🍀 Address: 49 Maddox Street, Mayfair, London #UKFood #LondonFood #BritishIndianFood #London
