Reno Citywalk: The "Biggest Little City" in Nevada

Nevada's second-largest city—the Divorce Capital, the World's Largest Small City. Just like Vegas, it's a surreal split-screen: glitzy casinos on one side, homeless folks in every imaginable pose on the other But then I witnessed something heartwarming: A Black auntie approached a man lying on the ground in the plaza—"Hey, you all right? You can't lay down here like that, you scare people. Hey, you all right?" ❤️ There are always good people. The homeless aren't scary—they're just like everyone else who lost their way at some point. It's terrifyingly easy to get lost in America. It reminded me of my former colleague who backpacked through Mexico: "What you're afraid of others doing to you, they're afraid you'll do to them. Plus, you're tall and built—no need to fear." 💪 🗺️ Today's Itinerary: 1️⃣ GSR Hotel → Reno Arch Uber ride: 10 minutes, dirt-cheap—perfect for a wage slave who uses "getting food" as an excuse to explore 🚗 The arch is new (there's an older one at the car museum). Photo op: ✅ Location: Right in downtown's casino circus. Supposedly prettier at night, but my paranoia + introverted colleagues = I went at high noon. Speaking of colleagues: These folks NEVER leave the hotel. They wake up early on weekends to file expense reports, eat at the casino, and won't step outside. Honestly, they haven't mentally prepared for this assignment at all. 🏨😬 2️⃣ Truckee River Walk District Strolled along the river—gorgeous views. A mixed bag of: 📸 Photo-hungry tourists 🦆 Rule-breaking geese feeders 👶 Locals pushing strollers 🔔 Cathedral bells chiming 🚶 Homeless folks lying around 🎰 Neon-lit casinos 🎨 Murals covering entire buildings With snow-capped mountains in the distance and a creek nearby, you'll definitely find meaning in wandering here. 🏔️💧 3️⃣ National Automobile Museum $15 ticket for a national-level car museum. Covers basically every European and American car brand. If you read every plaque, you could spend all day here. 🚗🏛️ 4️⃣ Museum-adjacent Mexican Restaurant (30-min walk) Cheap prices, packed crowd. Mexican cuisine = grinding everything into tiny particles and wrapping it in tortillas. Ordered "Mexico Lindo" for $18 —way cheaper than casino restaurants! 🌮💰 5️⃣ Uber back to hotel 🏨 Verdict: Reno is weird, raw, and real. A city where decadence and desperation share the same sidewalk, but somehow, humanity shines through. Even a wage slave can find adventure between shifts. 🎲✨ #US #Florida #Jacksonville
