Restaurants in Knysna, South Africa's Garden Route

Knysna: A Gem on South Africa's Garden Route Knysna, a charming town on South Africa's Garden Route, is full of surprises! In the morning, I went for a hike at Robberg Nature Reserve, where I enjoyed stunning coastal views and had the best lemonade of my life. Although I'm not usually a big fan of lemons, that refreshing and sweet drink truly revitalized my taste buds! By the time I arrived in Knysna, it was already past one in the afternoon. The town is steeped in history and culture. Knysna was once an important trading port where indigenous people and European immigrants (especially of German and Dutch descent) converged. Walking along the Garden Route, every cobblestone seems to tell a story from the past. The strong European influence makes you feel like you've stepped back in time. ⭐During my journey, I discovered a fantastic dining spot—Anchorage Restaurant (more details in P2-3). Having lived on the east coast of Canada for six years, I've never tasted such fresh and affordable seafood. The oysters here are incredibly fresh and sweet, and the seafood dishes are lighter and more refreshing than the heavy, cheese-laden dishes often found in North America. Each oyster costs just over 10 RMB on average, making it an excellent value! What's more, this restaurant ranks fifth among local restaurants on TripAdvisor! ⭐ 🚗 Parking Tip: Initially, I parked my car randomly on the street opposite the restaurant. Later, I found that there are designated parking spots right in front of the restaurant. I recommend using Google Maps for precise navigation and parking your car right at the entrance. It's convenient and worry-free. 🏠 Ambiance and Service: The owner of the restaurant is a white South African (I'm not sure if he's of Dutch or German descent). The overall atmosphere is rich in European charm. Special mention goes to the friendly black waitress, who was always attentive and inquired about our dining experience, making us feel very welcome and cared for. 🦪 Oyster Eating Tips: Squeeze Lime: The fresh lime juice instantly enhances the oysters' natural sweetness. Add Tabasco: Use both the green and red bottles of Tabasco to create a unique spicy flavor. Grind Black Pepper: Finish with freshly ground black pepper to add a layer of spiciness. Each bite feels like a gift from the ocean! Knysna is not just about delicious food; its rich history and diverse culture are equally captivating. Along the Garden Route, you can feel the influence of German culture—whether you're a tourist or a local resident, the town exudes a foreign charm. If you enjoy experiencing the blend of history and culture through food, Knysna is definitely a must-visit destination!😊 #SouthAfricaTravel #Knysna #GardenRoute #CapeTown #Africa #LonelyPlanet #OysterLovers #RawOysters
