Revisiting 2 Montreal Restaurants After 2 Years – What Changed?
Two years ago, I fell in love with two Montreal eateries. Recently revisited – one declined, one still slays! 1️⃣ Au Pied de Cochon (Famous Foie Gras Spot) 🦢 📉 Downgrade Alert! • Foie Gras Nigiri : Once 5 thick slices, now 4 thin pieces 😢 • Duck Temaki: Meh – raw duck isn’t for everyone. • Foie Gras Poutine : Rich but overwhelmingly greasy by the end. • Halibut : Saving grace! "Creamy" texture + sublime sauce. 💸 Verdict: Smaller portions, higher prices, slower service (30+ mins between dishes). Won’t return. 2️⃣ Janine Café (Brunch Queen) 🥑 🌟 Still Amazing! • Champi + Scotch Egg : Umami bomb! Truffle-mushroom toast + perfect runny yolk. • Egg’N Beef : Braised beef cheek Benedict – fall-apart tender with killer sauce. • Chic Croissant : Buttery, flaky, chef’s kiss (2023 order). 💰 Note: Slightly pricier but consistent quality. Sister café Régine Café has the same menu! 📌 Tips • Reservations essential – both are always packed. • Pricey but iconic – budget ~$50-80/pp. #MontrealEats #FoodieReview #BrunchGoals #FoieGras #TravelFood #TorontoLife
