Revisiting This Hot Pot Spot After Renovations
Last night, I checked out “Meet In That Year” Skewer Hot Pot in San Gabriel after their recent renovation. First impression: 👉 Brighter, cleaner, and much less greasy-feeling than before — way more comfortable to sit and enjoy. This visit was all about trying their new fresh‑cut beef series 🥩 — and honestly, they’re clearly serious about their meat. 🥩 What we ordered: • Fresh‑cut Diaolong beef • Snowflake beef • Wu Huazhi beef (hind‑shank) • Bamboo fungus stuffed with shrimp paste • Desserts: Brown sugar iced tofu pudding / Sweet fermented rice with tangyuan 🥩 Fresh‑cut beef thoughts: All cuts tasted genuinely fresh — none fell apart or felt insubstantial after boiling. ✔️ Diaolong – Clear marbling, tender yet chewy, memorable. ✔️ Wu Huazhi – Fatty but not greasy, more flavorful the longer you chew (would re‑order!). ✔️ Snowflake – Safe and solid, no complaints. 🦐 Bamboo fungus + shrimp paste The shrimp paste was seriously bouncy, cooked quickly, and the bamboo fungus added a nice fresh crunch. 🥬 Vegetables Held up well — didn’t turn mushy, still crisp after cooking (very important!). 🍮 Desserts deserve a special shout‑out ✔️ Brown sugar iced tofu pudding – SO smooth! Silky and refreshing, perfect to cut through the richness. ✔️ Sweet fermented rice with tangyuan – Light, gently sweet, a comfortable finish without feeling heavy. ✨ Overall feel: • Post‑renovation environment is much more pleasant. • Fresh‑cut beef has real highlights — not just a gimmick. • Desserts are memorable and well‑executed. If you’re already a fan of beef skewer hot pot, this spot deserves a comeback on your list ✔️ #LocalEats #LAHotPot #LASkewerHotPot #MeetInThatYear #SanGabrielFood #LAFood
