Rhode Island’s Summer Is Stunning! (Guide Included)

1️⃣ Day 1: Providence ❤️ Itinerary: Brown University → Westminster Street → River Walk We departed from Long Island, and the drive took about 3.5 hours. Providence is a pretty small city—we stayed near Brown University, which made getting around super convenient. Brown University: The campus isn’t large; you can walk around and explore it in at most 2 hours. If you’re into art, add a stop at the RISD Museum (Rhode Island School of Design Museum) 🎨. Westminster Street: Lined with cozy, artsy small shops—perfect for a casual browse. River Walk: Take a stroll along the river in the evening; it’s incredibly relaxing and peaceful 🌊. ❤️ Food & Drinks ☕ Coffee: Ceremony – a popular spot for their “teddy bear latte.” We tried the matcha latte, and it tasted pretty good! 🍲 Lunch: Mala Noodle – they serve spicy hot pot and spicy stir-fry (both as set meals). The flavor was average, but the prices are cheaper than in Flushing. 🥙 Dinner: Jahunger – the famous Xinjiang restaurant! We ordered big plate chicken and stir-fried rice noodles—huge portions! Their milk beer was quite unique too 🍻. 🍮 Dessert: Pastiche Fine Dessert – their fruit tarts have rave reviews online. If you don’t have a reservation, go in the morning (they sell out fast!). For me, it was a bit too sweet, though. 2️⃣ Day 2: Newport ❤️ Itinerary: The Breakers → Marble House → Cliff Walk → Brick Marketplace The drive from downtown Providence takes about 40 minutes. Parking Tips: If you’re driving and arrive early, park at The Breakers’ free on-site parking lot, or look for street parking around the attractions. For non-drivers, take the free No. 67 bus—it covers almost all the island’s famous attractions and beaches, but wait times can be long ⏳. Mansions: Newport has lots of mansions. If you’re short on time or don’t want to walk much, The Breakers is more than enough—it’s large and has beautiful views. If you’re not in a hurry, take your time to explore others; each has a slightly different style 🏰. Cliff Walk: The full trail is 2.5 miles long. If you only want to walk a section, start at Forty Steps—there are also stairs leading down to the beach here 🌊. Brick Marketplace & Downtown Newport: I really loved Newport’s downtown! There’s a harbor, tons of restaurants, and a nice shopping vibe—though parking can be tricky. ❤️ Food & Drinks There aren’t many dining options near the mansions, so either eat a full meal before heading there, or drive 10 minutes into the city for food. We tried the three-flavor lobster roll at Luke Lobster 🦞. If we hadn’t been in a hurry, we would’ve picked a harbor-side restaurant to enjoy seafood and sea breezes—it must have been so cozy! #NorthAmericanLife #NewYorkDayTrips #BostonDayTrips #Newport #EastCoastTravel #TravelGuide #RhodeIsland #Providence #TheBreakers #HolidayGetaway
