Rio de Janeiro: "The River of January"

Rio de Janeiro once served as the capital of Brazil (1763–1960) and the Portuguese Empire (1808–1821). In 1960, Brazil moved its capital from Rio de Janeiro to Brasília. Corcovado Mountain (Christ the Redeemer): Home to the iconic Christ the Redeemer statue, one of the world’s most famous monuments and a symbol of Rio. It is also one of the New Seven Wonders of the World. Rio Cathedral (Catedral Metropolitana): Also known as the "Cathedral of St. Sebastian," this modern architectural marvel resembles a pyramid and features stunning stained-glass windows. Maracanã Stadium: One of the largest football stadiums globally, it hosted two FIFA World Cups and the opening ceremony of the 2016 Rio Olympics. Brazil National Museum: Located in Quinta da Boa Vista Park, it was one of Brazil’s oldest and most significant museums of natural history and anthropology. Tragically, a fire in 2018 destroyed much of its collection. # National Museum of Brazil#Christ the Redeemer#Catedral metropolitana #Maracanã#brazil#tavel guide#trip diary
