Rio de Janeiro 3-Day Travel Route and Practical Tips
We're sharing our 3-day route and various practical tips with everyone~ The attractions are basically in Centro and its surrounding areas, and you can adjust the order according to your needs! Day 1: Beaches and Internet-Famous Check-in Spots 📍Copacabana Beach🏖️ A world-famous beach that's a must-visit! It's full of youthful energy here, where you can play volleyball and football. We love coming here on Sunday evenings—there are lots of stalls selling souvenirs and handicrafts, and the atmosphere is super lively, with many locals having a great time~ It's safe as long as you keep an eye on your belongings! Don't miss the roadside cocktail stalls. A cocktail costs R$10-30 (in small, medium, and large cups), and surprisingly, it tastes better than many famous bars in London🍹! 📍Selaron Steps🌈 The internet-famous Selaron Steps! You can take a taxi directly to the bottom of the steps. There are huge crowds of tourists, so try to go early for better photos~ Day 2: Church and Library Tour 📍Catedral Metropolitana⛪ A very unique Metropolitan Cathedral! You can walk to the church from the steps, and on the way, you'll pass the white bridge where you can take photos of the yellow tram. However, the walk will take you through an area with homeless people. They didn't harass us and were all quiet, but it's better not to walk alone or at night⚠️. 📍Real Gabinete Português📚 Once a royal library, it's now mainly a spot for tourists to take photos. You can walk here from the church; it's all main roads, and we thought it was safe during the day. You'll pass by a very photogenic graffiti wall along the way~ This attraction also has a lot of tourists, so go early for better photos! 📍Mosteiro de São Bento🗿 A magnificent church that's well worth a visit! The interior is full of gilded Baroque-style wood carvings—this style of church is rarely seen even in Europe~ Day 3: Museum and Characteristic Neighborhood 📍Ipanema Beach🌇 We came to this beach to watch the sunset, which was super romantic! You can take a taxi and set the location to Posto 8 or Pedra do Arpoador. 📍Museu do Amanha🔮 The exhibitions inside the museum aren't very interesting, but the building has a futuristic style, making it perfect for watching the sunset half an hour before sunset. Walk deeper along the shore, and there are vendors selling coconuts (R$10 each). You can enjoy the seaside sunset while drinking coconut water—it's so relaxing🥥! 📍Santa Teresa🎨 This neighborhood can only be reached by the yellow tram. Uber drivers usually don't want to drive up because it's all cobblestone roads and the roads are narrow. To take the tram, you need to take a taxi to Estação de Bonde de Santa Teresa. Strongly not recommended to visit during the off-season! During the off-season, you have to wait in line for the little train for at least two hours, and not many shops are open, with few people around. The overall feeling is bleak and unsafe—it's the most not worth queuing for experience we had in Rio😮💨. #LifeAesthetics #Brazil #RioDeJaneiro #OffTheBeatenPath #Seaside
