Rio de Janeiro Food Right Near Sugarloaf Mountain!

When I went to visit Sugarloaf Mountain, I stopped by this Bar e Restaurante Urca on a whim—as expected of a popular spot, I waited in line for almost half an hour before getting a seat, but it was worth it once I took the first bite~😋 I ordered a bunch based on online recommendations: shrimp bobo, sea crab pastel, empanadas, egg tarts, and also blindly picked the second fish dish on the menu. Their pastries are a must-praise! The sea crab pastel has a crispy crust that crumbles at the touch—when you bite into it, you can see crab meat mixed with cheese, and it’s so delicious when hot that you’ll squint with delight; the empanadas are packed with filling, whether it’s chicken or cheese, they’re all good. Pair them with the restaurant’s chili sauce and it’s perfect😉 Shrimp bobo is indeed a specialty! The shrimp is wrapped in a smooth yellow sauce—I later found out the sauce is made of cassava flour, with a hint of coconut aroma. It’s so good with bread that you can finish half a bowl easily. Unfortunately, the fish dish I ordered was a letdown—it had a strong fishy smell, so I barely touched it, which was a small regret~😕 I ordered local beer and a bar urca cocktail. The beer is icy and refreshing, and the cocktail has a touch of fruit sweetness—perfect with snacks🍻 Pro tip: If you’re in a hurry, you don’t have to wait for a table upstairs! There’s a snack counter downstairs where you can buy food and eat on the go; but if you’re not in a rush, the upstairs view is really nice—you can catch a glimpse of Sugarloaf Mountain, and it’s super cozy to eat while enjoying the breeze~🌬️ 🍴Bar e Restaurante Urca 📍R.
