RiseNY: Witnessing the Era of New York’s Development

📍 Manhattan Exhibition 📍 160 W 45th St, Midtown A place where you can witness the development of New York over the years. One gallery, one theme. Tickets are $27 each, originally$50. Use the discount code: MSW25, and hurry up until February 9th this year! 🧥 On the second floor, you can hang your coat, but it’s a bit chilly throughout, so wearing a coat is fine. Then, queue up and wait for the staff to guide you in. There are restrooms available. 🚇 First, you’ll wait for the subway, watch a video about the evolution of the subway, and sit on wooden chairs in a subway station. After the video, there’s a projection of a train arriving, and when the doors on the left open, you “board” the train. It really feels like the interior of a subway car, and once inside, you start exploring the various exhibits, which are quite interesting. ✅ The exhibition themes are as follows: ➠ Finance: New York Stock Exchange-related exhibits, with an interactive trading bell. ➠ Models of New York’s tallest buildings from various eras. ➠ Radios from different periods, with introductions to influential figures. ➠ Film & Television: A kitchen scene with a vintage feel, as well as scenes from Friends and Sesame Street decorations. ➠ Fashion: Displays of beautiful garments, including a little dress worn by Taylor Swift. ➠ Music: A stage display of The Beatles, a hip-hop scene, and some equipment for pretending to DJ. ➠ Cinema: A large screen with chairs and a popcorn machine (looks real but probably fake) showing various classic movies, where you can sit and watch for a bit. ➠ Theater: Primarily Broadway show costumes, very exquisite! 📺 After this, there should be a media theme with real staff explaining on a stage, mentioning that we’re preparing for a New Year’s Eve celebration from 1957-1958. Then you “enter an elevator” that’s a bit like a drop tower, but slow, so don’t worry. It only moves up and down a few inches, creating a mysterious atmosphere. After exiting the “elevator,” there are several screens mimicking a live news broadcast for New Year’s Eve, full of nostalgia. After watching this, you move on to the grand finale! New York’s Soaring Experience: Similar to Disney’s Avatar Flight of Passage ride, not as large or fancy, but still a fun experience. Small items need to be placed in a nearby locker, but it doesn’t move too wildly. You get to see scenes of New York’s five boroughs from above, through all four seasons, as if you’re on a small plane over New York. The final surprise gives you the feeling of time-traveling and celebrating the New Year! Lastly, there’s a gift shop. Before heading downstairs, there’s a great photo spot! The Torch photo point is outdoors, offering a high-up view of the Midtown street scene, which would make for a great photo. Unfortunately, there was something blocking the way, so I didn’t go outside, but I saw someone else go up later. I went in January when it wasn’t crowded, so you could take photos freely, and there were only us plus two other strangers for the ride. The whole experience takes about an hour, but you can finish faster if you walk quickly. I also arranged to visit the Museum of Broadway with a 50% discount. For dinner, I had Thai food at Mitr. I’ll introduce that in the next post. #ImmersiveExhibition #WeekendGetaway #HalfPriceDeal
