Road Trip to the Charming Town of Trier 🚗💨
We set off early from Munich, driving about 500 km to reach the historic German town of Trier in the afternoon. This is the hometown of Karl Marx—the great philosopher, economist, sociologist, and revolutionary thinker! As a Party member, this was a must-visit pilgrimage for me. 🅿️ Parking Woes (and Solutions!) At first, I searched for parking near Marx’s House and found "Mutterhaus Parkplatz"—only to realize it was actually a hospital parking lot! 🏥 Pro tip in Germany: Don’t park randomly in private/residential lots—your car might get locked or fined! Luckily, we discovered a small public parking lot right across from the hospital (€2/hour). After parking, turn right twice, and you’ll reach Marx’s House! Alternatively, "Trier Parkhaus City" is another great option. Since Trier is a popular tourist destination, parking is plenty—just make sure it’s public! 🏠 Visiting Karl-Marx-Haus Ticket prices: €5 (adults), €9 (family) Most visitors were Chinese tourists, and some exhibits had Chinese translations. Disappointingly, many just rushed through for a quick photo-op 📸—but this place deserves real attention! The 3-story house isn’t huge, but it’s packed with fascinating insights into Marx’s life, works, and influence. My family spent 1.5 hours reading every exhibit, while some foreign visitors studied even more carefully—proof of Marx’s immense impact on philosophy, economics, and sociology. ✨ Final Thoughts If you’re making the trip, take your time—this isn’t just a tourist spot, but a place of deep historical and intellectual significance. #KarlMarx #Trier #GermanyRoadTrip #HiddenGems #TravelSmart #Philosophy #Communism #HistoryBuff 🏛️📚🌍
