🍣 Rochester Japanese Food Collection|A Sushi & Izakaya Tour Post-Revenge-Final-Eating After finals, it feels like both body and soul have been drained. The best cure? Filling up with delicious food! Lately, I‘ve seemed to enter a mode of “revenge-eating Japanese food,” determined to taste my way through Rochester‘s (“the little) Japanese culinary map. 🇯🇵 This post serves as a timely food log, sharing recent (exploration insights) and offering a (dining reference) for fellow Roc residents. 🍱 Sushi Master This seems to be a newly opened Japanese AYCE (All-You-Can-Eat) spot on Jefferson Road. The ordering is modern: after seating, you scan a QR code to view the menu on your phone, then a server takes your order. The overall feeling was that everything was quite fresh; sashimi and sushi were consistently supplied with a decent variety. A good entry-level AYCE choice for those wanting to get their money‘s worth or simply indulge. 📍600 Jefferson Rd Suite 100 🍙 Taste of Japan Also an AYCE model, with an ordering system similar to Sushi Master‘s, via QR code. The two differ slightly in (dishes and style), like twins in Rochester‘s Japanese AYCE scene. Very convenient if you‘re near Henrietta. 📍3047 W Henrietta Rd 🍛 Taisho Bistro Japanese Izakaya This place is the source of my personal favorite pork cutlet rice (tonkatsu don)! Though I can‘t find a photo for some reason (🫠), its tonkatsu holds a solid place in my heart. The pork cutlet is fried crispy outside and tender inside, with a rich sauce, well-paired rice, and shredded cabbage. Embarrassingly, I‘ve never dined in, always opting for takeout. I really should visit to experience the izakaya vibe sometime. 📍100 Marketplace Dr Suite 350 🍣 Shiki This shop was recommended by a friendly Uber driver on the way to Sushi Master. The shop is very small but cozy. I ordered a Sushi Dinner; the ingredients were indeed quite fresh, with good quality fish. However, the chef was a bit “heavy-handed,” applying what felt like a “lethal amount” of wasabi between the rice and fish on almost every piece of sushi! 🍵 Unprepared for the first few bites, the spiciness shot straight to my head, bringing tears to my eyes—a truly “touching” moment. Friends sensitive to spice should definitely specify when ordering. Sharing these experiences (rapidly) before(completely leaving) Rochester! Hope this provides some useful info for fellow Japanese food lovers. Rochester‘s Japanese food world might not be vast, but it holds (quite a few) little delights that bring satisfaction. Happy eating, everyone! 🍥 📍 Addresses are tagged within the text. #Rochester#NYRochester#RochesterNY#JapaneseFood#Food#FoodReview#SushiBuffet#Tonkatsu#RocLife#InternationalStudentEats
