Rogan Printing ā An Art Spanning Past and Present
š§¶ Rogan is a traditional fabric printing technique practiced in Pakistan's Peshawar and Sindh regions. š§¶ The term "Rogan" originates from Persian and Sanskrit, meaning "oil." In this craft, paint is made from boiled castor or linseed oil, applied to fabric using a stylus. š§¶ This plant-dye application technique originated within the Khatri community and has been passed down through generations as a family heritage. š§¶ Rogan-printed fabrics are often more affordable than embroidered garments yet create a similar ornate effect, making them the preferred wedding attire for women from low-income families. š§¶ The craft nearly vanished in the late 20th century due to competition from cheaper machine-made textiles. Its revival is largely credited to artist Abdulgafur Khatri and his family's dedication. #TextileArt #FashionDesign #Pakistan #TraditionalCraft#trip diary#travel guide# Peshawar
