🤎 Alpen Rose is a classic steakhouse in downtown Philly known for its intimate atmosphere. Reservations are essential — they’re limited daily. I booked in late March and got a slot for early May to celebrate our 6th anniversary 💖. Perfect for a date night, but we brought our little one along (no high chairs, but kids are welcome). 🤎 The entrance is super discreet — no sign, just a doorbell. Someone peeks out to ask for your reservation name before letting you in — very private and exclusive! Here’s what we ordered: 🤎 BONE MARROW TOAST Sweet-glazed bone marrow paired with beef-topped toast. Rich and slightly sweet — eating it alone could be heavy, but with the savory toast, it’s a perfect balance of salty, sweet, and crunchy! 🤎 OCTOPUS A starter with sliced octopus and lemon — tangy and salty, but nothing extraordinary. Pretty average. 🤎 BEEF WELLINGTON Their signature dish — the reason I came! Flaky pastry wrapped around a thick cut of beef. I ordered medium rare, but honestly, it didn’t live up to the hype. The pastry was crispy, but the beef itself lacked flavor. Maybe my expectations were too high 😅. 🤎 PINEAPPLE UPSIDE DOWN ALASKA A showstopper dessert — pineapple-shaped cake flambéed tableside with blue flames 🔥!
