🏰 Rotterdam Medieval Architecture | St. Lawrence Cathedral 🌟
🌟I was fortunate to encounter a worship service at the usually closed St. Lawrence Cathedral. At the end of the service, I was invited in to enjoy breakfast with everyone, and a kind uncle even poured me some coffee—so warm and hospitable. To appreciate this one of the few remaining medieval buildings is truly blissful. 👑St. Lawrence Cathedral: Located in the Netherlands. 🎨Walking south along St. Antony Street, you'll be greeted by beautiful buildings and palaces all the way. At the end, turn onto St. Lorenzo Street, and you'll see a magnificent cathedral at the corner of the street. This is the famous St. Lawrence Church. The church was originally built in the early Middle Ages. After the Knights Templar arrived, they converted the residents to Catholicism and renovated and expanded the church, making it a paragon of Roman Baroque architectural art. ⛪️In front of the church stands a tall statue with graceful and smooth lines on the altar. The statue with a halo above its head, dressed in sacred garments and holding a cross, seems to be spreading the gospel to the world. The lower part of the church is a white foundation, above which is a pale yellow brick structure, with two very ornate bell towers on top. Inside the church, the walls are covered with murals. At the front is a red wood carving shrine that encloses the statue of St. Lawrence. The statue wears a cross on its chest, dressed in a bright red robe embroidered with gold thread, with a kind and peaceful expression. #Rotterdam #Church #Netherlands #Medieval #Europe
