Rwanda is Different

My first visit to Rwanda 🇷🇼 was spent entirely in the capital, Kigali, and it truly stood out. Back in Botswana, hotel staff told me Rwanda was unlike other African countries. Online, I saw it called "Africa's Singapore" or even compared to Marvel's Wakanda. Upon landing at Kigali Airport, my hotel driver proudly said, "Welcome to Rwanda—safe, clean, and friendly!" First Impressions ✅ Clean & Organized – Streets are spotless (rare in Africa!), with well-planned greenery and modern architecture. 🛵 Motorcycle Culture – Like Chongqing, Kigali’s hilly terrain makes bodas (motorbikes) essential. But here, everyone wears helmets, and drivers actually yield to pedestrians—unlike many "developed" countries! 🌆 Urban Sophistication – Stylish buildings, smooth roads, and a vibe that screams "This isn’t your typical Africa." Safety & Affordability 🔐 Safe Even at Night – Walked around after dark without worry; locals were warm and helpful. 💰 Cheap & Cheerful – Coffee for a few RMB? Yes! Boda rides cost 500-1,500 RWF (~$0.50-$1.50)—always haggle down from 1,500! Exploring Kigali I toured the city entirely by boda, which was fast, cheap, and fun—a great way to see everything! Next time, I’ll visit Rwanda’s wildlife reserves too. Final Verdict: Rwanda exceeded every expectation. If you think you know Africa, think again. #Travel #Rwanda #Kigali #AfricaUnlocked 🌍✈️
