Sacramento Day Trip|A Stroll Through History & Riverside Sunsets 🌅
When I mentioned going to Sacramento, my coworkers wondered, “What’s there to do?” But after a day and a night, we were pleasantly surprised. 🏞️ 1️⃣ Old Sacramento A historic district along the river, now filled with restaurants and souvenir shops. Already decorated for Christmas, and the sunset view of the “Old Golden Gate Bridge” from the riverbank is beautiful. 🚂 2️⃣ Railroad Museum Located at the north end of Old Sac—highly recommended for fellow Chinese visitors. It documents the history of the first generation of Chinese laborers who helped build America’s first transcontinental railroad. Our ancestors contributed immeasurably to this country, especially California’s prosperity. They faced injustice but have since regained fairness and respect in other ways. Reading each display with my child was deeply moving. 🎨 3️⃣ Crocker Art Museum South of Old Sac. Worth a visit—allow about 1.5 hours to explore the collections. 🏡 4️⃣ Stanford Mansion Yes, the home of Leland and Jane Stanford. Tours run around 1 PM daily; we missed the timing but saw it from outside. 🏛️ 5️⃣ California State Capitol Museum & Garden Free to enter (all state capitols look kind of similar, right?). We returned after dinner for night photos—lovely. 🏀 6️⃣ Golden 1 Center Home of the Kings. A nearby American restaurant had a 4.9 rating, but our Chinese stomachs couldn’t quite adjust… Great atmosphere for game-watching though! 🍜 Restaurant Recommendations Chef Burma: Unique Burmese flavors I Shanghai Delight: Comforting Shanghai-style dishes 🏨 Stay: Hyatt Regency (points redemption). Rooms are dated, but the location is great and feels safe—right next to the Capitol, with frequent police patrols. ⚠️ Safety Note: Homeless individuals are around, but they generally keep to themselves if left alone. Still, avoid going out at night. #BayAreaWeekend #BayAreaLife #CaliforniaLife #ShortTrip #Sacramento #HistoryWalk #FamilyTrip
