Salt Lake Cityο½Food Guide Part 1 π’π₯π₯€
Wukong BBQ (Monkey King BBQ) First off β no free water, but you can bring your own drinks.ππ Got the cold appetizer trio: red sausage, century egg, peanuts. Sausage was too salty, overshadowed the peanuts. Skewers were heavily seasoned β beef tendon was tender, but chicken wings were undercooked (skin not crispy, meat dry). Grilled mantou was large, soft, almost like toast. Jang Soo Jang Strong grill smoke smell inside, understaffed, slow service, long waits.π€£ Sundae Guk (blood sausage soup) β first time trying blood sausage, not mind-blowing. Galbi Jjim (braised beef) β needed to simmer at the table to thicken and absorb flavor. Tteokbokki was just average.π€£π Afghan Kitchen A surprisingly amazing hidden gem! Appetizer: Bulani β like a crispy scallion pancake filled with soft potato, onion, and Afghan spices.ππ Afghan naan β smoky and fragrant. Lamb shank rice β lamb fell apart with a fork, no gamey taste, served with yogurt-tomato-eggplant sides. Sizzling beef/lamb platter β great wok breath, Middle Eastern rice stayed moist, meat tender yet chewy β perfect with naan. Ombu Hot Pot If you pay dinner price at lunch ($23.99), you get way more meat options. (Single hot pot costs extra.) Fried chicken wings were dry and oily. Good variety of veggies and seafood β meat quality was solid for the price.ππ Shrimp paste was a bit starchy, but still decent. They refill with broth, not water β nice touch! Blue Blue (Bubble Tea Spot) Taro Bobo Milk β thick taro paste, naturally sweet; pearls were soft and QQ, but drink was too thick to sip easily. Pineapple Lemon Four Seasons Tea β fresh fruit, refreshing.ππ Cocoa Treasure β with Oreo crumbs and popping boba β recommended! Four Seasons Milk Tea β strong tea flavor, pleasant aftertaste, comes with pearls β also recommended! Location is a bit out of the way, but worth the trip. #SaltLakeCityFood #SLCFood #BBQ #AfghanFood #HotPot #BubbleTea #FoodReview π₯’π
