Salt Lake City|Korean Izakaya Makes a Strong Comeback! 🏮
Once hailed as one of SLC’s most popular izakayas, Bar Nohm quietly disappeared during the pandemic—but now it's back strong! The menu has changed a lot: gone are the popular uni rice and sashimi bowls, and yakitori options are fewer, but they’ve added more Korean-style drinking snacks perfect for sharing. Great vibe for weekend drinks with friends. Located on the Sugae House bar strip, so you can easily hop to another spot afterward. 🍶 ⚠️ If you’re sensitive to kitchen smells, avoid seating near the open kitchen. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Beef Belly A must-order! It’s like a Korean-style beef and spinach salad—slightly spicy, deeply flavorful, and perfect with drinks. Even better paired with kimchi fried rice. 🥘 Kimchi Fried Rice Looks better than it tastes—a bit dry and mild on its own. But mix it with the Beef Belly, and it shines! 🎏 Japanese Snapper Sashimi Fresh and well-cut. (After a recent terrible sashimi experience at a new spot, I’m extra grateful for good-quality fish now.) 🍢 Yakitori Just okay. Australian Wagyu skewers were a bit tough, and chicken skin was chewy. Edible, but not memorable. 👉 For better yakitori, I still recommend Ozora Izakaya (see my Utah food guide for notes). ⚠️ ID required for entry—no minors allowed, including infants. They’re connected to sister bar Witch Water next door (reviewed in my Utah guide as well). 🏮 Atmosphere: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ 💰 Price: ~$50 per person 🅿️ Parking: Convenient 📍 Bar Nohm 165 W 900 S, Salt Lake City, UT 84101 #KoreanIzakaya #JapaneseIzakaya #Yakitori #SLCFood #UtahEats #BarNohm #HiddenGem
