Salt Lake City|What to Eat Besides Chinese Food 👉🏻 Afghan Kitchen 🍖
After being amazed by Habibi’s stews and hand-pulled rice, we’ve developed a huge passion for Middle Eastern food! 😄 Happened to see this spot on Google Maps with super high ratings, so we rushed to try it without hesitation. Ordered the Shami Dashi—similar to sizzling beef platter. The beef is likely skewer-grilled first, then stir-fried with onions and bell peppers. How could it not be delicious?! 🥩🧅 Remember to mix it well for even heating, or the bottom might burn. That iron plate is no joke—seriously powerful! The Garlic Naan was a favorite—super thin and crispy in the middle, brushed with garlic butter. I finished half of it by myself! 🧄🍞 For appetizers, we tried Beef Mantu (Afghan dumplings). The spices and seasoning were unique, but the dumpling texture was too soft and lacked bite. For those used to well-made dumplings, this might not be a top pick. We also got the traditional Clay Oven Kabob combo with beef and lamb (no photo because my pic turned out ugly 😅). Surprisingly, the lamb had zero gamey taste—even I, who usually avoid lamb, had two pieces! 🐑✨ Since we’re sensitive to lamb’s gaminess, we didn’t order many lamb dishes this time—a bit of a regret! The menu shows four different lamb shank preparations, so now that we know it’s not gamey, we’ll definitely go back to try more. If it’s good, I’ll update you all! 😎 Name: Afghan Kitchen Address: 3142 S Main St, South Salt Lake, UT 84115 #SaltLakeCityEats #Utah #SLC #HiddenGem #GlobalEats #CarnivoreDelight #AfghanCuisine #FoodExploration
