Salt Lake City & Park City Food Diary β€” All-You-Can-Eat Edition 🍲πŸ₯©

The 24/25 ski season brought me back to a couple of AYCE spots, but the meat quality didn’t feel as good as before, so this time I leaned more into cooked dishes. UMI Japanese Shabu Shabu (Went again this year β€” meat felt leaner and tougher.)πŸ™ŒπŸ˜ Starving after a full day of skiing, we headed downtown. This Japanese hot pot AYCE is solid β€” small plates of meat make it easy to pace yourself. Veggies are fresh, and they even have free bottled/canned drinks (I went straight for the pear juice!).❀️❀️ Sushi is available but average β€” okay for quick hunger relief. Appetizers came slow but were delicious β€” fried chicken wings and takoyaki were highlights (wish they came earlier!). Only ~$30+ per person β€” great value. Go early β€” we arrived at 4:30 PM and it was already half full. OMBU Grill Visited the 1438 State St location. Meat portions are generous, marinated options are tasty, but side dishes are limited and not great β€” so it was all about the meat! Short rib was a bit fatty, cheesy corn was just okay β€” everything else was good.πŸ’•πŸ‘Œ After tax & tip: ~$30 per person β€” at that price for AYCE, you can’t complain! OMBU Hot Pot Classic Chinese hot pot AYCE. We got pork bone + spicy beef broth.πŸ™ŒπŸ˜ Arrived around 10 PM β€” still busy! Meat and veggies were good, but the self-serve seafood and duck blood weren’t super fresh. Sauce bar was decent, desserts and sweet soups were nice, mochi rice cakes were soft and chewy. All for ~$40 per person β€” solid value! KOU - Korean BBQ of Utah (Felt the meat quality dipped this year too.) Flavorful and well-marinated Korean BBQ AYCE β€” seems Korean-run (staff spoke Korean to regulars). Service was attentive β€” they checked often if we wanted more meat. High heat grills cooked meat quickly without sticking β€” we ate nearly 20 plates without changing the grill once!πŸ˜πŸ‘ Finished with chocolate ice cream β€” sweet ending! Mr. Shabu Japanese hot pot AYCE near downtown. Good meat, amazing broths β€” so tasty you don’t even need dipping sauce!😊😁 Went for lunch but dinner menu has premium meat options. Only downside: hours are fixed β€” closed 2:30–5 PM, opens at 5 PM. Came to under $40 per person total. #SaltLakeCity #SLCEats #SaltLakeCitySki #SLCAYCE πŸŽΏπŸ–πŸ”₯
