📍Salt Lake City Farmer’s Market: Taro Sago & Morel Mushrooms 🍄
Having lived in Salt Lake City for over ten years, I’ve truly seen our little village become more diverse year by year 🌍✨. Who would’ve thought a decade ago that you could find braised pork rice, beef donburi, and taro sago with big chunks of taro at the Downtown Farmer’s Market?! Compared to Ogden, the Salt Lake City Downtown Farmer’s Market is much more vibrant. During the summer, it’s held outdoors every Saturday at Pioneer Park ☀️🛍️, and in the winter, it moves indoors at The Gateway ❄️🏬. Let’s check out this year’s summer market highlights: 🍱 Natsumatsuri Taiwanese Cuisine This stall was definitely the dark horse among food trucks this year! Their high-saturation red and blue banners gave off strong Japanese summer festival vibes 🎏🎆. Many girls—big and small—rushed to take photos here. The focus is on Taiwanese flavors. If you don’t want to wait under the blazing sun, you can order online 🖥️ and relax in the shade until it’s ready. 🍛 Braised Pork Rice: The rice was a bit mushy (probably overcooked), but the braised pork flavor was good! 🥩 Beef Donburi: Pretty average—not enough onions, and the veggies felt randomly thrown together. 🌟 Taro Sago Dessert: A delightful surprise! Not too sweet, very natural tasting, with big chunks of taro—so yummy! 🧋 Brown Sugar Boba Milk Tea: Too sweet for my taste 🍯❌. 🥐 Forty Three Bakery This one has a physical store too—address below. I crown them Utah’s best pastry shop 🏆, yet they’re also the most low-key. Their storefront might look humble, but everything sells out fresh daily! A true hidden gem 💎. 📍 67 W 1700 S, Salt Lake City, UT 🍄 Mushroom Stand Selling rare wild mushrooms like morels! My Cantonese bestie waits all year for their stall to buy some and make soul-warming soups 🍲❤️. 🦆 Smoked Duck Fat This stall has been here in previous years—not sure if they’ll be back this time. They sell whole frozen ducks, duck liver pâté, and most impressively—their homemade smoked duck oil. It has a high smoke point and is absolutely amazing for cooking asparagus! 🥓🔥 🎵 Street Performers Harpists, violinists, African drummers, guitar players—and even one performer who’s been coming for over ten years with an owl! 🦉🎶 They’ve become a unique part of Salt Lake’s cultural landscape. #FoodShare #MyFoodDiary #FoodieUSA #TaroSago #SweetTreats #FarmersMarket #OutdoorMarket #LocalMarket #CreativeMarket #EatPlayExplore #StreetFood #UtahRoadTrip #EveryPathHasFlavor #CaptureTheMoment #WeekendPlans #SummerVibes
