Salt Lake City Weekend Fun Spot: Flaming Gorge 🏞️🚗💨

During my first week moving to Salt Lake City, I took advantage of the weekend to explore Flaming Gorge in northeastern Utah. This stunning lake area lies on the northern side of the Uinta Mountains—one of the few east-west trending mountain ranges in the United States, intersecting almost perpendicularly with the Rocky Mountains. 🗻🌄 Along the way, you can see dramatic sedimentary rock formations and badlands with layer-cake-like textures. 🍰⛰️ The entire region is snow-covered year-round, nourishing water sources and creating serene, expansive vistas that glow under the sunlight—absolutely breathtaking! ☀️😍 This spot is perfect for a day trip on the weekend. There are easy 1-hour scenic trails as well as more challenging routes for hardcore hikers.
