Salvador | An Unforgettable Adventure in Central America's Hidden Gem

This country, once labeled as one of Central America's "four most dangerous nations," was infamous for its volcanoes 🌋, coffee ☕, gangs, and crime. Just a few years ago, it held the grim title of world's highest homicide rate. But since 2019, under new leadership, everything has changed. Now, instead of gang-controlled streets, you see armed soldiers 🪖 and police ensuring safety. Gunfire has been replaced by street cafés, and people finally live in peace. 🏛️ In the heart of San Salvador, a strikingly modern building stands out among the old, crumbling structures—the China-funded National Library, now a city landmark. Seeing the towering Chinese flag 🇨🇳 at its entrance filled me with warmth. 💖 Despite its poverty, El Salvador is one of the friendliest places I’ve visited—especially toward Chinese travelers. From the airport security guard who helped me find a ride, to the ex-gangster-turned-barber who gave me a free haircut, to the bus driver who kicked out a local passenger just to make space for me—everyone showed incredible kindness. Even the Starbucks barista upgraded my drink for free just because I’m Chinese! 🎬 Walking through San Salvador feels like stepping into a movie scene: Soldiers with American rifles patrolling the streets Vibrant street art 🎨 covering every corner Cozy coffee shops with volcano views in the distance The ever-present smoke from active volcanoes 🌋 When friends ask, "Why visit this tiny, unknown country?" My answer: "The world is vast—every footprint has meaning. Some memories are worth the journey." #CentralAmerica #OffTheBeatenPath #TravelDifferently #HiddenGems#Fujifilm #TravelPhotography 📸
