San Francisco Food Diary | 🇪🇸 Coqueta
Just visited this trendy Spanish spot the other day! 🌊 The ambiance is absolutely stunning—grabbing a window seat with ocean views makes for such a relaxing meal. 🏖️ But flavor-wise? Honestly, it’s a bit overrated like many SF "European" spots. The tapas were underwhelming (limited selection and nowhere near what you’d get in Spain), though the paella was decent. Overall, it’s a cute place for dates or friend hangs—just don’t expect mind-blowing food. Ambience/Taste (5/3.5) ➡️ Paella de Tinta The highlight! 🥘 We got the traditional version with squid rings and mussels—the squid-ink rice was rich and addictive (we scraped the pan clean!). Only downside? The seafood quality was mid (mussels weren’t plump or super fresh). ➡️ Salmón Ahumado The best tapas we tried! 🍣 Smoked salmon on crunchy bread with truffle honey—sweet, savory, and texturally fun. Worth ordering! ➡️ Croquetas de Pollo Tasty fried chicken croquettes! 🧆 Crispy outside, creamy inside. Solid choice. ➡️ Huevos Nacionales AKA deviled eggs… but these were TRAGIC. 🥚💀 Imagine a cold, bland half-egg with a sad sprinkle of caviar. Skip! ➡️ Huevos Rotos A sizzling plate with sunny-side eggs, fried potatoes, minced pork (sweet-sour flavor), and shrimp. 🍳 The pork + runny egg worked, but the shrimp were lazy (uncleaned veins!). Confusing dish—pass. ➡️ Forgot-the-Name Cocktail Their drinks are pretty! 🍹 Saw gorgeous orders at nearby tables, and ours was tasty too. Go for it! PS: SF has tons of "European" restaurants, but lately, none have wowed me. 😩 Does the US even have real-deal Spanish/Italian food? 🤣 #SFfood #SFexplorer #SpanishFoodSF
