đ Bia Hoi SP đșïž R. Rego Freitas, 428 - RepĂșblica, SĂŁo Paulo - SP, 01220-010 The Hype vs. Reality Their website says: "Bia Hoi SP carries on the Hanoi bar tradition, serving tasty snacks and ice-cold beer in a laid-back vibe." The name literally means "draft beer" in Vietnamese (bia = beer from French "biĂšre", hoi = gas for tapping). Hanoi has hundreds of these bars, packed with workers and travelers on sidewalk stools, sipping local beer. Cool concept, right? đ» But with 37k Instagram followers, it feels more like a marketing machine than a food haven... The Disappointing Lunch Arrived starving at 3 PM with high hopes. Ordered the classic ăphoăâbig mistake. Waiter presented it in a dramatic "dry-wet separation": raw beef slices and noodles in a bowl, with a kettle of boiling soup to pour over. Like a Vietnamese take on Yunnan cross-bridge noodles, but... đ€Šâïž The theatrics ended there. The broth lacked depth, the beef was chewy, and the noodles clung together. Adding bean sprouts and mint couldnât save it. đ± Also tried ăshrimp spring rollsăand a ăginger sodaă. Spring rolls were mushy, wrapper sticking to the plate; soda tasted like flat ginger ale watered down. đ„ąđ« Ambience Issues Maybe itâs a night-time bar spot? During the day, the lighting was dim, like a dive bar at noon. Tables were sticky, and the staff seemed more focused on Instagram props than service. đ đ° 131 BRL per person đ° (Pro tip: Skip the daytime meal. If you must go, come for drinks after darkâmaybe the neon lights hide the flaws?) #ExpatLife đ #VietnamesePho đ
