Sasuke Inari Shrine (2)π²β©οΈ
Beyond the worship hall, you can head upwards to the rocky knoll. πΏπ¦ There, you'll find many tiny stone shrines covered in moss and little stone houses with mossy roofs. White porcelain foxes are scattered all around, and their sheer number is truly spectacular. πΏπ¦ The origin of the shrine dates back to Minamoto no Yoritomo. After his father, Minamoto no Yoshitomo, failed in his uprising, Yoritomo was exiled to a small island. πΏπ¦ There, he dreamt of an old man who called himself "the Hermit Inari," encouraging him to rise against the Taira clan. After his victory, the Minamoto clan established the shogunate. Yoritomo discovered the ancestral shrine of Inari and built the Inari Shrine. πΏπ¦ Since Yoritomo was known as "Sasuke" in his childhood, the name "Sasuke" was added to the shrine. π π¦ Sasuke Inari Shrine β©οΈ 2-22-12 Sasaki, Kamakura, Kanagawa Prefecture #SasukeInariShrine #KamakuraSasukeInari Shrine π
