( 佐 助 稲 荷 神社 ) Sasuke Inari shrine or the Red Fox Shrine of Kamakura. It is a shrine in the traditional Japanese religion like Shinto. It is located in a small village in Kamakura city Kanagawa Prefecture Near the Zeniarai Benzaiten Ugafuku Shrine , this shrine has a long history. Set in a quiet atmosphere Peaceful, surrounded by trees Has been built since the 12th century to be dedicated to The god of the fox (Inari Fox) since the entrance area has one unique thing, the red flags are lined up along the way. It is believed that if you come to worship at this shrine, you will be able to pass through obstacles. Have luck in work And success in all areas of work Legend Of Sasuke Inari Shrine was built by Minamoto Yoritomo, the first shogun of Kamakura. In exile, he dreams of an old man who calls himself the fox god of a mysterious village in Kamakura. He was suggested to attack his enemies until Minamoto Yoritomo won The battle and became the Shogun of Kamakura after that. The soldiers were ordered to search for the old man who came to him Therefore, they found a small shrine located on the grounds of Sasuke Inari Shrine at this time. In order to express gratitude, this shrine was built in dedication to the fox god. Including named Sasuke ( Sasuke )which means Helping Yoritomo in Chinese Characters The shrine consists of two separate structures the Haiden or the front guard room and the Honden or the cave at the back. There will be differences with other Buddhist temples It is noticeable that there are statues of foxes of various sizes dotted throughout the shrine grounds. Which may be another symbol and identity Of this shrine Some of the statues may have changed since they were more than 800 years old, but a smaller statue of the present is placed. Its location on the hill makes the entire area surrounded by dense forests. This will add even more magical atmosphere to the place. Part of the worship and blessing Will be on the side of the shrine Which will have a small shrine And there are shelves lined with small fox statues. It is also close to the holy fountain of Kamakura, and the Honten part can be reached by a staircase behind the Haiten building. An open space to the right of Haiten, with precautions to be taken to climb the relatively narrow and steep stairs. With the fact that it is an old shrine Suitable for people who want to absorb the natural atmosphere. As well as experience Japanese traditional religious beliefs In the midst of true tranquility this place is so cool weather and beautiful like in fairy forest

It looks a bit like Inari Taisha, but different. This place is not crowded at all. Only a few people passing while i took pics there on the enterance. Please do be careful, there is a small sign near the enterance that written in Japanese, it means something like 'watch out for bees' i think, because i saw several people got attacked when passing by. One of them even got stung on her head. She was panicked and was shouting for help. It was scary. I tried to help her but the bees were already stung her head. The bees only attack people who exits the shrine. I didn't notice any scream or running when they're entering.

I tried going to this place from Zeniarai Benzaiten Shrine, following path from google maps. Got into the mountain, one path way, I was alone, and almost dark at that time, quite scary, especially the stepping is very steep. Some path are requiring you to hold to ropes, and the path was long, maybe I got lost and follow wrong path. In the end, can't find this place. Note: images uploaded are when I was still enjoying the view, 5min after that, I focused on the roads to get out of forest before dark. The roads are far worse than the ones in picture.

Sasuke Inari Shrine is an absolute gem and easily one of our favorite shrines in all of Japan. Tucked away in "Kamakura's hidden village," it offers a unique and mystical experience. Dozens of red torii gates and hundreds of foxes scattered everywhere create an enchanting atmosphere that truly set it apart from the more famous Fushimi Inari Shrine in Kyoto. If you're looking for a truly special shrine experience, Sasuke Inari is not to be missed.

It’s a steep climb but it’s worth it. We walked here from Kamakura station and it took around 15 minutes. The shrine itself is very small and when there are people around, it gets crowded quickly but most people move on fairly swiftly. There is a small shop, cash only. Most items are reasonably priced and there are English explanations/labels. I imagine the shrine looks very impressive when surrounded by the autumn leaves.
