📍 Savannah, GA Travel Notes
📍 Savannah, GA Travel Notes | A One-Day Southern Retro & Artsy Escape After Charleston, headed further south to the retro little town of Savannah, GA—spent a day and a night here! 🚗💨 Both cities share a super walkable downtown with a European vibe~ The difference? Charleston focuses more on plantations and Black history, while Savannah is an artsy, vintage town 🎨🍃. Attractions here are more concentrated—one or two days is totally enough to explore! ☑️ Attractions: 🌱 American Prohibition Museum Even as someone who’s not big on museums, I found this interesting! Savannah historically had prohibition—when alcohol (a major tax revenue) suddenly disappeared, many went bankrupt 😵. So people found loopholes: hospitals ordered alcohol by the case, medicines were spiked with more booze… The museum has wax figures, exhibits, and even a replica speakeasy bar 🍸~ Come learn about the “Wets” vs. “Drys”! 🌱 City Market Right near the museum~ Lots of little shops to browse 🛍️ 🌱 SCAD Story An interactive exhibit about the history of SCAD (Savannah College of Art and Design)—free! 🆓 Multiple sessions daily (starting at :30 and on the hour). You can book or walk in. 🌱 River Street A street along the river~ It was raining when I went 🌧️, so the views weren’t great, but it’s probably super chill on sunny days! Lots of little stores. 👻 Unique Experience: Ghost Tour! Savannah is famous as a “haunted city” 👻. I found a highly-rated walking tour on Google (there are also van tours). The guide took us to haunted spots and shared local legends—I could understand the basics, but details were tricky for non-native speakers 😅. The coolest part? The guide gave us “ghost detectors” that light up red 🔴 when spirits are near! It kept flashing red in the cemetery… You can even “talk” to ghosts (the device responds simply)—no idea how it works! Believe it or not~ 😂 The tour covered many spots, including the park from Forrest Gump (which I missed during the day—perfect!) 🎬 🫕 Food Recs: 🦪 Sorry Charlie's Oyster Bar Sure Thing oysters (small but fresh!) Seafood rice + Crab Cake ~$50 per person, good value! 🍦 Leopold's Ice Cream Famous ice cream shop—rich flavors! Two huge scoops for $6.9~ Got banana + coconut 🍌🥥 🍛 E-Tang Chinese restaurant—ordered pickled pepper bullfrog & garlic pea shoots. The frog sauce was rich and slightly Americanized, but hit the spot! ~$25 per person. 🍴 The Collins Quarter Brunch was super delicious 😋! Highly recommend~ #GATravel#Georgia#StudyInUSA#USATravel#Savannah#HauntedCity#SouthernFood
