Savannah and Charleston Travel Recap ✨
Savannah and Charleston Travel Recap ✨ I spent my birthday trip exploring Savannah and Charleston. If I had to pick a favorite, Savannah wins by a mile—this small town feels young, vibrant, and straight out of a movie 🎬. The locals are incredibly engaging with tourists, and people of all ages are so open-minded. I got showered with compliments all day long, it almost made me tear up 🥹. Charleston’s colorful houses are bright and cheerful 🏠, but by afternoon, it feels like all the grandpas and grandmas have gone home for their naps. The houses are spotless, but honestly? A bit boring. I’ll definitely edit two vlogs when I have time! All my recommended eats are listed below~ 🩷 Savannah Food Recommendations: 🎵🍗 Good Time Jazz Bar’s fried chicken and warm, boozy country bread pudding are life-changing. The chicken juices drip with every bite, and the chef is a total legend—dubbed the “dean of Southern cuisine” 👨🍳. The food stays true to traditional Southern roots, but the execution is 100/100 💯. Plus, you get to eat while listening to live jazz—pure magic. 🍦🍪 Leopold’s, the 100-year-old ice cream parlor, makes epic ice cream cookie sandwiches! I ate them two days in a row—they’re huge. The peanut butter cookie is thick yet fluffy with a rich milky flavor, perfect paired with coffee ice cream. The banana ice cream, though? Even better on its own. 🐄🧇 Don’t skip the waffles at Mirabelle Cafe! They taste like they’re packed with eggs, with a chewy, mochi-like texture. The ricotta is crumbly, not sweet, and super milky. Their February strawberry menu is so girly ❤️, and the retro turquoise walls make for amazing photos 📸! 🩷 Charleston Classic Restaurant Picks: Peninsula Grill is a must. The foie gras appetizer with grilled pineapple is on par with a one-Michelin-starred dish 🍽️. The lamb chops? Better than most I’ve had at one-Michelin spots in New York—shame the sides are boring and underwhelming. On a sadder note: circa1886’s current tasting menu was so bad it almost made me cry 😭. I did tell the chef his seared foie gras (not on the tasting menu) was amazing, though. The light vanilla chantilly paired with the foie gras is pure, simple happiness. Chef Marc probably felt too embarrassed about the tasting menu to come out and greet us… Pro tip for anyone visiting the South: Ask the kitchen to go easy on the salt 🧂. Otherwise, the food can get way too salty. 📷 Photo-Worthy Spots: Savannah’s The Olde Pink House is a must-visit. The food isn’t mind-blowing, but I get the appeal—enjoying beloved traditional dishes in an elegant, formal setting on special occasions? Total joy. Savannah’s parks are stunning, and that dreamy turquoise church? So melancholic, beautiful, and serene—it’s impossible to look away 💙. #BirthdayTrip#Savannah#NorthAmericaTravel#Charleston
