Savannah Food & Drink Guide š
Savannah Food & Drink Guide (Part 5) š This time, Iām sharing two restaurants Iāve visited for the second time! Both were booked for Christmas, specifically to check out whatās new on their holiday menusļ½ There were pleasant surprises and some letdowns, so foodies, grab a seat and letās dive in! 1ļøā£ Cha Bella āļøāļøāļøāļø The second visit was just as impressive! The quality didnāt drop at all, no misses throughout the meal, and my hit a new high šÆļ½ 𦪠Seared scallops deserve a special mention! The scallops themselves are tender enough to melt in your mouth, with a sweet hint of the sea. Topped with a small slice of bacon, which adds a lovely smoky aroma, plus some crispy fried onion shreds for texture. The sauce is light and doesnāt overpower the scallopsā freshnessāyou wonāt be able to stop at one bite ā ! š Daily catch was a nice surprise! The fish is coated in a thin batter, grilled to crispy outside and tender inside, served with pickled shallots and an orange salad. Underneath, thereās baby bok choy and a white sauce, making the whole dish feel refreshing, like a summer mealļ½ Even on a chilly Christmas night, this dish instantly lifted my mood. If you love light flavors, youāll adore this ā ! š· And the old favorite, pork chop! A āregularā at Cha Bella, it never fails to deliverļ½ It looks like a steak but is purely pork. The meat is so tender it cutseasily, with a savory-sweet sauce that pairs perfectly with vegetablesātotally satisfying, never disappointing ā ! 2ļøā£ Elizabethās on 37th āļøāļøāļø The second visit coincided with New Yearās, so we tried their holiday fixed menuāseven courses for $115 per person, with two wine pairing options: $45 and $85. We went for the $45 oneļ½ Unfortunately, it was a bit underwhelming. The wine quality was average, with flavors progressing in intensity just like the dishes, but only one white and one red wine suited my taste; the others were too one-note š. The biggest letdown was the dessert wineāit was eggnog, loaded with spices. I drank it before it settled, and the gritty texture scratched my throat, leaving a burning sensation. Total turn-off ā! š The bread basket was the same as before: orange jam + cheese biscuits, so delicious I wanted to take some to goāthis gets a definite ā ! 𦪠Grilled mussels were better than last time! On my first visit, they gave us one as a test, but this time it was on the holiday menuļ½ The mussel meat was plump, in a sweet-sour-spicy sauce with melted cheese, super appetizing and more flavorful than beforeāthis works ā ! š¦ Shrimp bisque was the star of the meal! The shrimp were fresh that day, so sweet itās incredible. The soup had potatoes and onions for creaminess, light yet layered. Perfect as a first course to wake up the appetiteāthis is the only dish I wanted a second bowl of ā ! š The two pasta pieces were just okay: spinach and cheese filling in a light, tangy tomato broth. Not rich or impressive, just average. š„ The salad was a standard palate cleanser, but I donāt like beets or goat cheese, so I only ate the greensāslightly disappointing. š Red snapper was decent: coated in crushed potatoes and fried to a crispy exterior, with juicy flesh and light sides. A good transition after the saladānothing special, but no complaints. š„© The steak tasted great! The beef was tender with a milky flavor, and the sauce was rich, but it came with tons of potatoes. By the sixth course, I was too full to enjoy it properlyāsuch a waste of good flavorļ½ Taste-wise, itās worth praising ā ! š° Finally, the cheesecakeāclassic dense American style, way too sweet. Plus, I was stuffed by then, so I really couldnāt enjoy it. Not recommended ā! #NorthAmericanLife#Food#Savannah#WeekendEats
