Seattle 🪄 A Green Magic Forest Straight Out of a Mystical Fairy Tale
Everyone knows the Amazon is the world’s largest tropical rainforest. However, there are a few lesser-known temperate rainforests, and today I’m putting the spotlight on the Hoh Rainforest on the Olympic Peninsula, which is the only rainforest honored as a World Heritage Site and Biosphere Reserve by UNESCO! The Hoh Rainforest is one of the four major rainforests on the Olympic Peninsula! Its unique ecosystem has remained unchanged for thousands of years and is now the best-preserved temperate rainforest in the Northern Hemisphere. 🌈 Ways to Explore: Starting from the Hoh Rainforest Visitor Center, there are two nature trails: the Hall of Mosses Trail (about 1.3 km) and the Spruce Nature Trail (about 2 km), which feel like walking through a vibrant green cathedral! If you want to venture deeper into the wilderness, you can try the 5 Mile Island hike, which follows the Hoh River and is relatively flat, lined with 100-year-old giant cedars, spruces, and firs. 🎫 Admission to the Hoh Rainforest: Free ⏰ Visiting Hours: The Hoh Rainforest is open daily from April to November, and only on weekends from December to March. Camping and hiking are available year-round. 🖇 Visiting Tips: A sunny day is, of course, the best time to visit, but the rainy season has its own charm, offering the chance to see the moss at its lushest and greenest. The winter and spring rainy seasons are also the best times to spot Roosevelt elk in the area, as they migrate to higher altitudes during the summer. #TimeForPhotos #WhereToGoOnTheWeekend #TravelAbroad #Rainforest #Seattle #TravelUSA #AmericanLife #SeattleSurroundings #FamilyTime #WeekendGetaways
