Sgrizzi (v2) | Vegas Food Diary šŸāœØ

Restaurant: Sgrizzi Italian Restaurante and Bar Visited: June 2025, Dinner Food Rating: 7.5/10 I feel like this place is becoming my new go-to when I can’t decide where to eat—occasional small letdowns, but no major disasters. Compared to my last visit, the menu has expanded, service has improved, and it’s clearly gotten more popular—more tables, a bit crowded, but lively! šŸ¼ Calamari Salad (8/10): The squid was tender and crispy—absolutely perfect! The accompaniments lagged a bit behind: tangy and spicy flavors, but the chili peppers were unexpectedly hot. My family mistook them for bell peppers and took a bite… instant pain face šŸ˜‚. Aside from that, we cleaned the plate quickly! Linguini Nero (7/10): I didn’t think much when ordering, but realized after it arrived—it’s squid again! But the flavor was great, so no complaints… Seasoning was balanced: a mildly spicy seafood taste—how could that go wrong? šŸ˜‹ (Especially after having an oversalted pasta at a highly-rated place the week before. This one was just right!) If I had to nitpick, the pasta was a bit softer than ideal, lacking some chewiness. NY Strip (7.5/10): I usually order ribeye, but tried the NY strip this time—still flawless. More beefy flavor, still tender, and the slightly charred edges were the most tempting part. As usual, I got mashed potatoes as a side—the portion was much larger, creamier, and now includes sweet potato mash too. Feels more thoughtfully prepared than before! Service has clearly improved—the server was more experienced, and small details were better handled: e.g., the sharing plates were served warm, and crumbs on the table were promptly cleared. That said, there were some puzzling steps back: The bread was still average—mediocre texture, not much aroma. The affogato now comes with pistachio sauce (??). Visually, it was a shock… and after one spoonful, my taste buds were shocked too. Checked the bill: charged for both pistachio sauce and crushed pistachios—but I never saw any crushed pistachios šŸ˜…. Still, the good outweighs the odd! Have you been to Sgrizzi?
