Shing Kee in South Philly – Decent, 7/10
The flavors are good, clay pot dishes come in huge portions, stir-fries are moderate in size. Tried several signature dishes—no misses. Downside: the dishes are quite oily, especially the dry-fried beef hor fun—literally swimming in oil 😅. It’s wok-fried with great flavor, but that much oil is hard to handle… feels like a week’s worth of grease in one meal. Guilty pleasure overload! The Shatin pork ribs are crispy and fragrant, but again, too greasy and can get heavy.😁😊 Stir-fried assorted seafood () had decent variety with springy shrimp, though not enough garlic chives. Service was normal, restrooms clean. Overall satisfied—7/10. Some say it’s a competitor to Tai Lake, but I think Tai Lake wins—their stir-fries are less oily and easier on the stomach.👌💕 Here are some well-reviewed dishes I researched online for next time: Steamed whole fish with ginger & scallion❤️🙌 Salt & pepper squid Beef with bitter melon in black bean sauce Clay pot tofu with minced pork #Pennsylvania #PhillyLife #PhillyEats #PhillyRestaurants #PhillyFood #PennsylvaniaEats
