Sjávargrillið: A Top Icelandic Dining Experience 🍽️

This restaurant was hands down the best surprise of our trip to Iceland! While waiting in line for a table, we discovered it was the same place featured on "Sisters Who Boldly Go", which initially made us a bit nervous. However, the experience completely exceeded our expectations! Highlights: 🍹Yuzu Sour Ordered while waiting for a table, this drink was an instant hit! The alcohol content is low, and the yuzu flavor is perfectly balanced with just the right amount of sweetness and tang. It's a great appetizer drink! 🥖Pre-Dinner Bread The best pre-dinner bread in Iceland! Freshly baked, with a crispy crust and a nutty aroma, the inside is soft and fluffy. The layers of texture are amazing, and we couldn't stop eating it! 🦞Lobster Taco The lobster is perfectly fried and crispy, paired with just the right amount of cheese. The seasoning is spot-on for Asian palates. Every bite is incredibly satisfying and leaves you wanting more! 🐟Pan-Fried Salted Cod The cod is slightly salty but perfectly balanced with the cottage cheese. The flavors and textures are elevated to a whole new level! The accompanying sides—breadcrumbs, tomatoes, sausage, and a rice-like garnish—are individually simple but create a magical combination when eaten together. Highly recommend trying them all together in one bite! 🦐 Shellfish Pasta The seafood is abundant and varied, with a rich and flavorful sauce that doesn't overpower the pasta. The pasta is perfectly cooked and soaks up the sauce beautifully. This dish was almost cleared off the table as soon as it was served! 🦈Fermented Shark We tried the Icelandic specialty—fermented shark. The smell was so strong it almost made us faint, and the ammonia taste was overwhelming. It's definitely a once-in-a-lifetime experience. Surprisingly, my husband seemed to tolerate it and even ate five pieces, which I couldn't understand and definitely don't want to try again. It's a high-challenge dish that not everyone will appreciate, so proceed with caution!
