📍SLC|Kura Revolving Sushi – Opening Day Visit! 🍣🎉

Heard that Kura, Japan’s popular revolving sushi chain, opened its first Utah location today! Even though I’d just had lunch with a client, my “sushi brain” couldn’t resist the call! 😂 📍675 E 2100 S K, Salt Lake City, UT 84106 The shop is in a small Sugarhouse plaza near a busy intersection—watch the exit when navigating, or you might miss it (U-turns are tricky here!). 🚗 Parking is right outside. Lunchtime on weekdays usually has spots, but dinner is packed—come early or expect a wait! 🍣 First Impressions: Looks small from outside, but spacious inside! Six rows of seats surround the conveyor belt 🚄. Each seat has a self-order screen—compact yet private. The vibe is classic “Japanese-American fusion”—with delivery robots, gachapon machines, anime decor, and plenty of Japanese touches. 🌟 Two-Level Conveyor: The lower belt carries regular items, while the upper one delivers your custom orders right to you! Didn’t notice until the staff explained it! 👀 Food Highlights: Even on opening day (a bit chaotic service 🏃‍♂️), everyone knew how revolving sushi works—sit down and start grabbing! The belt had limited variety, mostly nigiri—two pieces per plate, well-made and fresh. My favorites: • 🐚 Seared Hokkaido Scallop × Japanese Mayo Aburi style + creamy mayo = addictive! • 🥩 Oil-Seared Wagyu Rich and oily—a must for meat lovers! • 🐙 Oil-Seared Octopus Same fragrant oil—chewy and bouncy! • 🇺🇸 American Wagyu Battleship Roll Photogenic 💯, generous filling, but loosely packed—a bit messy. 💡 Tips: If the belt runs out of something, just order on your screen! Your sushi arrives on the top belt in minutes—don’t just wait! 🥢 Experience Summary: ✔ Clean environment, good noise level ✔ Full self-service: ordering, adding items, checkout. Solo bar seating—perfect for introverts! ✔ Plate-counting system is weirdly satisfying! Toss empty plates into the slot—it counts with a “clunk!” 🎰—so therapeutic for OCD folks! ✔ Pay by plate count—ate 5 plates for $20. Great value for US Japanese food! 🌈 Perfect For: 📍 Efficient workers grabbing a quick meal 📍 Hanging out with friends 🧑🤝🧑 📍 Solo diners enjoying every bite 📍 Anyone who loves light interaction and fun experiences 🍣 Right after leaving, I was already planning my next sushi trip… Utah friends, any recommendations for the freshest aji (horse mackerel) this July? Please share! 🙏 #Food #SaltLakeCity #EatPlayExplore #JapaneseFood #LifeInUS #NorthAmerica #GoodEats #NewRestaurant #100RestaurantsChallenge
