SLC|Kura Revolving Sushi — Opening Day Visit! 🍣🎉
Heard that the first Kura Revolving Sushi in the valley opened today! Even though I’d just eaten lunch with a client, my “sushi brain” couldn’t resist the call! 📍 675 E 2100 S K, Salt Lake City, UT 84106 Located in a small plaza in Sugarhouse, near a busy intersection — watch your GPS so you don’t miss the turn, otherwise U-turns are tricky! 🚗 Parking right outside — usually available on weekday afternoons, but evenings get packed. Come early or off-peak for dinner. 🍣 First Impressions Looks small from outside, but spacious inside! 6 rows of seats around the revolving conveyor belt, each with a touchscreen for ordering. Cozy yet private. Decor is classic “Japanese-American” vibe — robot servers, gacha machines, anime merch — lots of fun details! 🌟 Two-level conveyor belt: Lower level: staple sushi items continuously passing by. Upper level: delivers your custom orders straight to your seat (almost missed that detail without the staff’s intro!). 👀 Food Highlights Opening day was a bit hectic service-wise, but everyone got the hang of it quickly. Conveyor selection was still limited — mainly nigiri, two pieces per plate, but quality was on point! My favorites: • 🐚 Seared Hokkaido Scallop × Japanese Mayo Aburi + creamy sauce = addictive! • 🥩 Oil-Seared Wagyu Rich and aromatic — a must for meat lovers! • 🐙 Oil-Seared Octopus Same fragrant oil as the wagyu — QQ texture like it’s ready for battle 😆 • 🍣 American-Style Wagyu Gunkan Very photogenic 💯, generous filling, though a bit loosely packed. 💡 Tip: If the belt runs out of what you want, just order via screen! Your sushi will arrive on the upper belt in minutes — no need to wait randomly! 🥢 Overall Experience ✔ Clean, pleasant background noise level ✔ Fully self-service: ordering, adding items, paying — plus a solo bar counter perfect for introverts! ✔ Plate counting system is weirdly satisfying — each empty plate makes a kuan sound and tallies up — oddly therapeutic. ✔ Paid by plate count — 5 plates = $20 — solid value for Japanese food in the U.S. 🌈 Great for: 📍 Efficient weekday lunches 📍 Casual hangs with friends 📍 Solo sushi appreciation 📍 Anyone who enjoys light interactive dining 🍣 Just walked out and already thinking about my next sushi run… Valley friends — any recs for where to find the fattiest aji (horse mackerel) this July?? Hit me up! 🙏 #Foodie #SaltLakeCity #EatDrinkPlay #JapaneseFood #LifeInNorthAmerica #StudyAbroadUSA
