Some Travel Tips for Lumbini
Taxis 🚗: 🩵From Bhairahawa Airport, you can get a taxi to the Chinese Buddhist Temple for around 1300-1800 NPR. It's recommended to find a reliable driver at the airport and keep their contact for chartering tours and returning to the airport, as it's hard to find taxis within Lumbini. Tuk-tuks 🛺: 🌈For getting around the park, tuk-tuks are the main mode of transportation. The park is enormous, and we couldn't walk it all. We chartered a tuk-tuk the next morning to visit all the temples, including hotel transfers, for 1200 NPR, which took about 2.5 hours. ✨This might be a reference for you. The round trip from the park's surrounding hotels to Maya Devi Temple cost us 700 NPR. It's also best to find a reliable driver and keep their contact for on-call service. Chartered Trip to Kapilvastu 🚕: 🌈 We directly contacted the driver we found at the airport, and it was 4000 NPR for a round trip to visit 5 archaeological sites, taking about 3.5-4 hours. The ancient city is 20 km away from Lumbini and is worth a visit; there's no admission fee. ✨ Each site has official free guides, and we gave a small tip to the guide at the royal palace ruins (not mandatory). Local children often ask for money; if you want to give, prepare some small bills, or you can choose to ignore them. Hotels 🏨: We stayed at Buddha Maya Hotel, and booking on-site was a bit cheaper than on Booking.com. A fellow traveler stayed at the Chinese Buddhist Temple, which was also clean. The biggest issue with hotels here is hygiene; the place is really rustic. 🛕Chinese Buddhist Temple : ✨It's the cleanest temple here, and accommodations, meals, and tea are all on a donation basis. If you plan to have vegetarian meals, it's best to inform the temple in advance, which we did through a friend staying there. There's a very clean and beautiful tea room with air conditioning, offering white tea, Dahongpao, and Nepalese high-mountain tea. It's a good place to rest if you're tired. Shopping 🛍️: 🌈Handmade palm leaf products are of good quality, costing 100 NPR each. We bought many and received several as gifts, which are great as bookmarks. However, the quality of Bodhi bead strings is average; they are said to be made from local Bodhi trees in Lumbini, and we bought them as souvenirs for 2000 NPR each, which I felt was a bit pricey. 🩵There are many mobile vendors, and we bought from a Lumbini college student working a summer job who spoke some Chinese because he was going to study at Tsinghua University. There's not much else to buy. #Nepal #Lumbini #ChineseBuddhistTempleNepal #Kapilavastu#Travel Tips#The Buddha Maya Garden Hotel By KGH Group#Kapilvastu Museum#Shivapur
