Southern Cotswolds Route: Castle Combe & Lacock Abbey

Just got back from another trip to the Cotswolds — this time exploring the southern part near Bath! Here’s a relaxed and scenic route I put together: Chippenham ➡️ Lacock Abbey ➡️ Castle Combe 🚗💨 ♦️ Chippenham A practical starting point for the southern route. Not the most scenic, but it’s got plenty of chain cafés ☕, shops 🛍️, and a shopping park for supplies. Also the main transport hub with buses to other spots. ♦️ Lacock Abbey A charming village with an untouched feel 🍃. Many locals have honesty stalls outside their homes — I bought some gorgeous handmade blueberry jam from one! 🧺 The abbey itself is a Harry Potter filming location 🧙♂️⚡, but note: it closes around 5 PM and has an entry fee. Go early! Surrounded by meadows and cute cottages, it’s pure Cotswolds charm. ♦️ Castle Combe Even quieter and more peaceful — the definition of cozy English vibes 🏡. Parking is very limited inside the village (only roadside past the bridge), and even the main lot a short walk away was full when I arrived at dusk. Castle Combe is my favorite Cotswolds village 🥹: like a painting on sunny days 🎨, solemn and majestic when cloudy — always beautiful. 📶 Be aware: It’s peak season now. Whether you’re taking buses or driving, plan ahead — many areas have poor or no phone signal! That’s a wrap on my easy-breezy Cotswolds guide!
