Spain Never Disappoints: The Underrated Gem of Cádiz

Before my trip to Spain, I never imagined that my favorite photos would all be taken in Cádiz! 📸💙 If you find Barcelona too chaotic, Seville overly polished, and the whirlwind of travel leaving you a bit overwhelmed… then spare a day for coastal Cádiz while in Andalusia. 🏛 A city with over 3,000 years of history, one of the oldest in Western Europe, founded by the Phoenicians. A seaside town blending Christian and Islamic Mudejar influences, perched at the southwestern tip of the Iberian Peninsula, cradled by the arms of Atlantis 🌊. Gaze into the horizon—beyond the waves lies Africa, while the sea crashes against scattered breakwaters, and time flows slowly, deeply, pulling you into its rhythm. ⏳ It’s impossible not to slow down here. Especially in the off-season, when we had the tower all to ourselves, and the seagulls approached me more eagerly than I approached them! 😆 ☀️ Sunshine, ocean, ancient ruins— and one more reason to visit: the tuna. 🐟🍴 If you love quiet places, if you’re tired of the classic Seville-Ronda-Granada route, then Cádiz is absolutely worth considering. ——— 🚌 Getting There: From Seville: 2-hour bus or train ride 🚆 By car: ~1.5 hours from downtown Seville 🚗 Doable as a day trip, but staying overnight is even better! 🌟 Must-Do’s: Main Cathedral ⛪ – The church itself is decent, but climb the tower for panoramic views! Torre Tavira – Even better vantage point for the city, coastline, and cathedral. Eat Tuna! 🐟🍽️ – Many restaurants specialize in tuna dishes (or check out the Central Market stalls—sadly, I arrived too late 😭). Roman Ruins 🏛️ – Worth exploring if you have extra time! #TravelDiary #Wanderlust #Spain #Cádiz #Andalusia #OceanVibes #HiddenGem #Cadiz #SpainTravel ✨🌍
