Spanish Cuisine in Halifax 🍴 LOS TOROS - Absolutely Delicious!
Let me tell you about this amazing Spanish restaurant I recently visited - LOS TOROS! 🇪🇸 Every dish we tried was bursting with authentic flavors, and I just have to share all the details with you. 🌟 Seafood Paella (Paella Marinera) - $52 The summer version of this classic Spanish dish is so much better than what you get in winter! 🦞 Every bite was packed with fresh seafood - mussels, shrimp, clams, you name it! We even added squid ink this time, which turned the whole dish jet black - so cool and dramatic! 😎 The rice had that perfect socarrat (the crispy bottom layer) that makes authentic paella so special. 🌟 Crazy Potatoes (Patatas Brava) - $10 These spicy, crispy potato cubes might just be the best bar snack ever invented! 🥔🔥 The sauce had just the right amount of kick - not too spicy but packed with flavor. We ended up ordering a second portion because we couldn't get enough! 🌟 Charcuterie Board (Charcuteria Variada) - $27 This was hands down the best cheese and meat platter I've had in Halifax! 🧀 No dry, overly salty ham here - every slice was perfectly cured and melted in your mouth. The cheese (which I think was a sheep/goat blend) paired beautifully with the assortment of crackers and bread. Pro tip: Save some bread to dip in the seafood stew later! 🌟 Seafood Tomato Stew (Zarzuela De Mariscos) - $28 This rich tomato broth was like a warm hug from the Mediterranean! 🥣 Packed with fresh seafood and just a hint of saffron, it left this delightful sweet aftertaste that had us scraping the bowl clean. (I was too busy enjoying it to take photos - oops!) 🌟 Grilled Octopus with Potatoes (Pulpo A La Brasa) - $17 The octopus was perfectly tender - not rubbery at all! 🐙 While I only had a small taste (we were sharing everything), the smokiness from the grill really came through. The potatoes underneath soaked up all those delicious juices too! 🌟 Steak (Medallones De Res) - $38 This 7oz AAA beef tenderloin was cooked to perfect medium-rare exactly as we requested. 🥩 The seasoning was spot-on - just enough to enhance the natural flavor of the high-quality meat. And having those crazy potatoes on the side made it even better! 🌟 Churros with Chocolate (Chocolate Con Churros) - $9 These crispy Spanish doughnuts dusted in cinnamon sugar were the perfect sweet ending! 🍫 The chocolate dipping sauce was rich but not too sweet - exactly how proper Spanish churros should be served. They reminded me of the ones I've had in Barcelona! 🌟 Sangria - $8.5/$12.5 Their sangria game is strong! 🍷 The classic Vina Sancarra was my favorite - fruity and refreshing without being too alcoholic. The Tinta (with extra fruits) had a slightly stronger wine flavor, while the white sangria (with peaches) packed the most punch. Last time I asked for "less alcohol" in the white sangria, and they made it perfectly balanced! Final Thoughts: ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ ✅ Authentic Spanish flavors that transport you to Barcelona ✅ Generous portions - we left completely stuffed ✅ Excellent service - attentive but not intrusive ✅ Great value - $260 for four people (including tax and tip) is very reasonable for this quality 📍 LOS TOROS 5075 George St, Halifax, NS #HalifaxFoodie #SpanishCuisine #SeafoodPaella #DateNightSpot #SangriaLover #FoodieAdventure #HalifaxEats #MustTryHalifax 🎉🍽️🔥
