SPEARFISHING -INTRO

We met up with Jason, the owner of Kairos Spearfishing in Oahu—and it turned out to be such an awesome adventure for my partner, who’s been eager to learn this sport! 🎣​ First, we locked in a designated time and place on the North Shore—no confusion, just smooth planning. The experience kicked off with a two-hour classroom lecture, and get this: it was under mature, majestic Hawaiian trees 🌴! Sitting there surrounded by that tropical greenery, listening to Jason break down the basics, made learning feel way more relaxing than a stuffy classroom—total vibe.​ Then it was time to gear up and head out for a shore expedition! We walked to the water, then swam out to a lovely reef in the Pacific—so exciting to watch them get ready to dive in 🌊. And let me tell you, everything I’d heard about Jason was true: he’s extremely cautious (super important for safety!), courteous, and so patient. Plus, he’s extremely knowledgeable about spearfishing—he didn’t just teach the skills, but also walked them through both extremes: the hazards to watch out for and the pure joy of the activity.​ After nearly 2 hours below the surface, they swam back to shore together—my partner had the biggest smile on his face the second he stepped out of the water! 😊 Based on his excited report and that grin, the experience with Kairos Spearfishing was truly a 10/10.​ Oh, and this was a private lesson—so my partner got Jason’s full attention, which made learning way more comfortable and focused.
