Kinugawa Onsen Asaya Ryokan πΊοΈ Address: 813 Taki, Kinugawa Onsen, Nikko City, Tochigi Prefecture π Transportation: Get off at Kinugawa Onsen Station on the Tobu Railway, then transfer to the local onsen shuttle bus at the entrance (about 8 minutes). The interior of Asaya Ryokan in Kinugawa Onsen is one of the inspirations for the oil house interior in Spirited Away. π Edo-Tokyo Open Air Architectural Museum πΊοΈ Address: 3-7-1 Sakura-cho, Koganei City, Tokyo (inside Koganei Park) π Transportation: Get off at Musashi-Koganei Station on the JR Chuo Line, exit North Gate and transfer to Seibu Bus No. 2 or 3. Get off at Koganei Park West Entrance. The Edo-Tokyo Open Air Architectural Museum is an outdoor museum that restores historical buildings. The Sanseido Stationery Shop inside is one of the inspirations for the boiler room where Boiler Grandpa worked in Spirited Away. π° There are also other prototype locations, such as the Dogo Onsen Honkan in Ehime Prefecture and the Kinkiyado in Nagano Prefecture, both of which are century-old hot spring inns.
