Sri Lanka 🇱🇰 Travel Guide
Itinerary Recommendation: It takes about 3 hours to drive from Yala to Galle.🦋 😘😘Attractions along the way: Coconut groves, stilt fishermen. Watch the sunset in Galle Fort and stay overnight. The next day, drive for 1 hour to go mangrove rafting, which takes about 1 hour.🎪 Then drive for 2 hours back to Colombo.🏜️ 1️⃣ Recommended Attractions: ① Coconut Tree Hill : A coconut grove by the sea, on the way from Yala to Galle. It’s worth a visit. Though it’s just a small patch, it’s great for taking photos.🏞️🏞️ ② Galle Fort : Galle Fort is inside the ancient city. Watching the sunset here is absolutely amazing 😍. If you have enough time, wander around the ancient city first and then watch the sunset. After the sunset, many shops will be closed.🌴 ③ Madu River Safari : The mangrove rafting is on the way from Galle back to Colombo, which is quite fun. You can buy tickets on-site, either by cash or card. There are many small activities during the rafting: taking photos with small 🌤️crocodiles, buying coconuts, watching the cinnamon-making process (we bought a little symbolically), etc. These small activities are paid separately, and each is not expensive. Remember to bring cash. 🛣️ The boat🚌 driver is also very hardworking and good at finding photo spots. Tipping is customary. 2️⃣ Galle Hotel: Radisson Collection: The swimming pool is beautiful, but the food is average. 🌸 The toilets in the rooms are all made of large glass. It’s worth staying for the pool, but not recommended for other aspects. The whole journey ends when returning to Colombo. Notes ⚠️: ① Many hotels in Sri Lanka do not provide disposable amenities. Remember to bring toothbrushes and slippers. 💕💕 Some hotels have few sockets, so bring a British plug adapter, an Indian plug adapter, and a power strip👣 ② The food in Sri Lanka is really not good. Prepare some instant noodles and snacks. We even brought our own instant noodle bowls and tableware because some hotels don’t provide them. You can use Uber Eats in Colombo, but not in other cities.🌴🌴 ③ You can exchange local currency at the airport. Just bring US dollars from China. The two of us exchanged a total of 600 US dollars, which was mainly used for tickets, souvenirs, and tips. It was quite sufficient.🦐 Try to pay by card where possible. Many tickets can only be paid in cash. ④ We contacted the chartered driver directly instead of through a Chinese agency, so it was quite cheap. The guy was super nice 👏🏻. He also helped us book the hotel, and the price including half board (HB) was much cheaper than the price I found on Ctrip without any meals. He was like a guide plus driver, helping with buying many tickets and bus tickets, which was much more convenient than doing it ourselves.🖼️🖼️ ⑤ We used Dialog SIM cards, which can be bought at the airport, near the money exchange. The signal is good, and it’s cost-effective.🌨️🌨️ ⑥ There are tuktuks everywhere in Sri Lanka. We tried it on the last day and it was quite fun.⚡ But remember to take one that can use a meter, otherwise, you’ll be ripped off. Be sure to ask when getting in.👍 Overall, Sri Lanka is quite good👍👍. Some cities are not that developed, but the culture is great, and the people we met are nice. However, there are many thieves 😑. Remember to take precautions.💓💓 #LesserknownTravelDestinations#SriLanka#SriLankaTravel
