Sri lanka trip diary
🧑🏻🌾New Zealand Farm Form Nuwara Eliya, located in a plateau region, is the center of Sri Lanka's dairy industry, with New Zealand Farm being the most famous among the pastures. It boasts automated production, processing, and packaging facilities, as well as vast grasslands, making it a natural oxygen bar. Here, children can get up close to the dairy farm and the production process of milk, watch the cows 🐄 line up for massage and milking, and taste the freshly milked milk, which has a naturally sweet taste. The children said it tastes better than pure milk in their home country (p10~13). 🚙 Transportation: On the way back to Nuwara Eliya from Horton Plains, you will pass by the farm, which is about 20km from the city center. If you're hiring a car, you can plan your itinerary in advance. If you're taking a tuk-tuk from the city, it will cost around 1500 rupees. There's a small train station nearby, and you can also take the train to the next destination from there. ✨Gregory Lake The lake covers an area of about 91 hectares and was an artificial lake built in 1874 by Governor Gregory. It was created by diverting water from the Nanu Oya River through a tunnel and is about 1km from the city center. The lake has fresh air and a beautiful environment, where you can take walks, ride horses, and row boats. There are nearby restaurants and hotels, making it a great place to relax. We also met a friendly young lady who asked for a photo with us. 🎫 Admission: Adult 600 rupees, Child 300 rupees The boatman took us on a one-hour lake tour for 6000 rupees, and you can also pay in US dollars . ✨Post Office This post office was built by the British in 1894, with a bell tower on the roof, and is a building in the Tudor Revival style. The exterior wall is made of red bricks with white mortar between them, giving it a pinkish hue from a distance, hence the name Pink Post Office. Inside, there are postcards, greeting cards, and stamps for sale. Originally a post office for locals, it has become a tourist attraction due to its beautiful appearance. 🎫 Admission: Free Postcards 50 rupees each, large stamps 50 rupees each, small stamps 20 rupees each. The child sent themselves a postcard, which may or may not arrive, and it might take a very long time. Even if it doesn't arrive, it will become a beautiful memory of our trip 🍀. 🏠 Accommodation: We stayed in a two-story villa with a beautifully maintained yard, just a 10-minute walk from the Pink Post Office. There is a bus station right across from the post office, making it convenient for travel. #Sri lanka ##trip diary#New Zealand Farm#Lake Gregory#Nuwara Eliya
