St. Augustine, Florida โ A Town Where Time Slows Down ๐๏ธ
๐ Located on the northeast coast of Florida, St. Augustine is known as โthe oldest city in the U.S.โ Itโs said that Spanish colonists first landed here, giving the entire town a familiar, warm Spanish vibe ๐ช๐ธ. White walls and red roofs are its signature style ๐ . ๐ We drove from Jacksonville โ about 1 hour. From Orlando, itโs around 2 hours. Parking downtown is tricky โ many lots are private. Recommend street parking in nearby residential areas (check carefully if itโs paid or free!) ๐ ฟ๏ธโ ๏ธ ๐ The town is quite small โ you can easily walk everywhere. If you have time, chill at a seaside restaurant or bar all afternoon โ๏ธ๐น. If just passing through, 2-3 hours of strolling is enough. Walking along the coast, I almost felt like I was back in Shenzhen! ๐๐ฃ ๐ถโโ๏ธ Highly recommend visiting Flagler College โ I call it the Muggle version of Gryffindor ๐ฆ (their logo is even a lion!). Itโs a private college and one of the most beautiful campuses Iโve ever seen. Sunlight filtering through the arches onto red-brick wallsโฆ can you imagine studying here? ๐๐ ๐ฅ The main street downtown is packed with restaurants, cafรฉs, souvenir shops, and ice cream stores โ but also crowds of tourists. We chose Sunday for brunch near the visitor center. Sadly, it was underwhelming โ overly salty smoked salmon โ, burnt-tasting coffee, and a mandatory 3.5% โkitchen appreciation feeโ ๐ธ on top of tips. We also passed Juniper Market Cafรฉ which looked cute โ but donโt be fooled by a slightly higher Google rating! ๐๐ฅ #SlowTravel #StAugustine #FloridaLife #HistoricTowns #TravelDiary #HiddenGems #Wanderlust
