Suitable for group dinner

📍 708 View St, Victoria, BC V8W 1J8 Right in Victoria Downtown, this spot has a prime location—and the decor outside is super eye-catching! The entrance is tiny, but step inside and it’s surprisingly spacious, with big tables along the sides that are perfect for group dinners. Probably thanks to the service industry staffing shortage, though, they were short on servers. We were a group of eight, so ordering and paying took forever—definitely tested our patience a bit! 😮💨 ❌ Silver Omakase 💰69 And get this—now I check the menu, and this Silver Omakase is even worse: they’ve cut it down to just 24 pieces (6-7 types of fish) and hiked the price to $74! With fish this bad, how dare they? 🙄 When we had it, there were 8 types of sashimi (32 pieces), but it included surf clam and octopus—two I hate. The squid was some weird blue-black color, no clue where it came from. The wild salmon and tuna had loose, dry flesh—no sweetness, no creaminess. The greater amberjack was tough, like it wasn’t fresh. The only passable bits? The reliable scallop and regular farmed salmon sashimi—at least those had a hint of that sweet, tender texture. ✅ Foie Gras Nigiri 💰34 There are four pieces in an order—perfect for splitting between four people! The foie gras is small, but fresh at least—no fishy or off tastes. It’s seared just right, tender enough to melt in your mouth, and they slather on a good amount of sauce, which makes it sweet and rich. The sushi rice underneath is seasoned well with vinegar, too—cuts through the richness of the foie gras nicely. Total win! 🦢 ✅ Black Dragon Roll 💰23 Eight pieces in a plate—my classmates and I split it, so two each. So good! Inside the roll, there’s fried shrimp, cucumber, avocado, and crab meat. On top, they’ve got tiny eel pieces and fish roe. The eel tastes just like the kind on eel rice—sweet and savory. There’s so much going on texture-wise: the ripe avocado is creamy and melts, the fried shrimp is crunchy, the crab meat is barely noticeable (oops), the cucumber adds a fresh crunch to cut the oil, and the fish roe pops with little bursts of umami. So fun to eat! 🐉 Paula got the eel rice, and I tried a bite—it’s exactly what you’d expect from eel rice, but tastes almost the same as the frozen microwaveable kind from the supermarket. The only upgrades? Some bits of tamagoyaki (sweet egg) and way too much green onion. If you don’t eat (scallions), this place isn’t for you—they pile it into everything! 🧅 #Canada #CanadaFood #VancouverIsland #Victoria #Foodie #LifeSnippets #FoodTour #MyDailyLife #RestaurantRecommendation #HiddenGemRestaurant
