SUMA Jakarta | A Birthday Fine Dining Experience

🎉 Another birthday in Jakarta—my third already! 🎂 Booked SUMA a month in advance after seeing so many rave reviews on IG. While it delivered a solid fine dining experience, it still couldn't dethrone August as my personal favorite. 😉 🍽️ Food: 4/5 🌟🌟🌟🌟 Every dish was beautifully plated and delicious, with some truly surprising presentations (who knew sour fish soup could look this elegant?). But a few questionable choices—like serving chicken in a takeout box or using cheap childhood haw flakes as garnish—felt oddly out of place for the price point. 🏛️ Ambience: 3/5 🌟🌟🌟 Private rooms require minimum spend (around 8mio IDR), so we opted for the main dining area. Unfortunately, it was packed with a loud reunion party that night—not ideal for a romantic birthday dinner. The interior design itself is stunning though! 💁 Service: 5/5 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟 This is where SUMA shines! Every server doubles as a chef, personally preparing and explaining each course. Bonus points for the incredibly handsome Korean chef who made our night! 😍 💰 Value: 3/5 🌟🌟🌟 4.3mio IDR (~¥2000) for two 10-course menus.
