Sumi: Hidden Japanese Gem in Notting Hill, London ๐ฃ
Recently, for my birthday, I booked a table at Sumi, a Japanese restaurant that's been getting a lot of buzz. It's the sister restaurant of the famous Endo. I had a bit of a letdown at NIJU, so I didn't have high expectations, but Sumi pleasantly surprised me!๐ The restaurant's decor is very Instagrammable, with a light wooden theme. ๐ชต When making the reservation, you can't add any special notes or mention it's for a special occasion. The appetizers were truly amazing! ๐ - Agedashi Tofu is a must-order! The soft tofu paired with enoki mushrooms and scallions is incredibly smooth and flavorful. - Yellowtail Sashimi Salad was also great, with a tangy dressing and very fresh sashimi. For sushi and nigiri: - I ordered the 5-piece sashimi set, which was decent but nothing extraordinary. - Temaki (hand rolls) are their signature, and many people are probably drawn here because of them. To be honest, I preferred the nigiri, which felt fresher. I'd recommend the Fatty Tuna and Scallop . For the main course, I had Beef Gohan (beef rice). The flavor was a bit salty, but the beef was tender. I'd suggest not adding too much sauce to avoid it being too salty. The Robata or seafood rice might be better options. For dessert, I had Matcha Mille Crepe (matcha green tea crepe). If it's your birthday, let the waiter know, and they'll add a little candle and write "Happy Birthday" on it. The taste was not too sweet or greasy, though I wasn't quite sure about the dollop of yogurt on top. The average cost was around ยฃ70-100 per person, which is a bit pricey. The location is near Notting Hill, and on the way to the subway station, I saw beautiful magnolia flowers! ๐บ ๐บ๏ธ Sumi Restaurant #London #LondonLife #LondonExploration #JapaneseFood #HiddenRestaurantGems #BeautifulFood #LondonBirthday #LondonFood #NottingHill
